Some words about music

Lately, to listen & enjoy music becomes my favorite pastime. I have gone crazy after discovering the enormous storage of music in Amazon.com. There are quite a dozen albums I have purchased there, most of which fall into the genre of jazz. I’m trying to gain more experience and musical feelings out of these jazz classics. I guess it’s always good to learn from the giants if you got no inspiration. The more I listen, the better I’ll know about this kind of music, and then perhaps I may find out what to do next in improving my work. Even if it fails to work out, simply enjoying these marvelous jazz pieces is already a pleasant thing in an insipid life.

In fact, there is another thing I want to do so much; I wanna do some music commentaries upon the albums. In Amazon.com there are lots of subjective thoughts and opinions given towards the albums, but little of these is helpful. Reading over them, I have a strong desire to make my own comments so as to share my feelings. It really gonna take me some time to have it done though, also I wonder if I am qualified to write them out with my poor musical knowledge. Well, maybe there’s not much I can comment about the albums then, not to mention making comparisons with other musical works. Besides, mastering the language in expressing emotions and feelings is another challenge. If I were to become a professional reviewer someday, my English would surely overwhelm the one I’m now writing with, if not perfect.

To comment upon music is not easier than to play it out after all, but still i will try to tackle it in recent future. Hope to comment on my new albums soon.

六四民運一個月後, 竟然係七四美國Independence Day, 真諷刺.

剛才在網上閒逛, 對網友貓貓的主張深表贊同.

在貓貓留學期間, 身邊的香港學生, 人（肉體）就生活在外國, 但….

講 — 廣東話,

看 — 香港電視錄影帶（當時不流行 download 電視劇集）,

食 — 港式茶餐廳、茶樓（外國叫 yum cha）

娛樂 — 廣東歌的卡拉 OK

唯一的溝通外語 — 國語

有時看見他們, 心想他們「花巨額, 走去西方國家來學國語, 不如直接入清華、北大、交通, 低 B仔。」

大鑼大鼓的他們來了, 只帶走了一口很爛的英語及發音不正的國語還有一張大學畢業證書輕輕地回老家。 不過亦有部份有上進的港青, 讀 Time、看當地電視、主動同鬼組 group。

外在環境非主因, 結果皆由自主選擇。

網友貓貓描述的景況正正發生在我身上.

古語有云 “學如逆水行舟, 不進則退”,
到美國已差不多一年了, 本人的英文水平著實沒有大進步,
英語學習環境少得可憐, 由朝到晚見面的皆是港澳學生,
用鄉下話交流, 英語跟本用不上.
社交圈子更窄得離譜,
除Cantonese speaker外,
沒有幾個國際生朋友, 更不用說美國人.

這裡的環境跟我來美前所想的完全不同.
這樣的投資對嗎?
值得嗎?
有用嗎?

要講廣東話我可以在澳門講過飽,
老遠跑來美國幹嘛??
錢多嗎?  

究竟我應該如何面對在De Anza的這兩年?

距今十八年的六四事件, 乃是中國近代影響深遠的一次民主運動.

從當日清晨的天安門清場起, 中央政府的血腥鎮壓手段震驚中外並一直為人垢病, 成為各大民主單位對中共的炮轟目標.

姑勿論當中有幾人死傷, 誰對誰錯, 我認為去瞭解事件發生的背境因由比估量這些爭吵不休的話題更重要. 那麼當中無辜慘死的學生, 老師, 工人與其他在北京城內不幸遇害的人才不致白白犧牲.

而且, 六四事件跟中國將來的前途與命運有著重大關係, 這絕非一場來去匆匆的政治風波. 從此我們作為中國人可以昂首面對世界, 原來中國的民主發展進程跟世界各地相比絕不遜色: 人民的心是雪亮的, 他們曾盡力嘗試去跟高高在上的中央政府對話. 

六四事件是作為現代中國人不可遺忘的！

some incoherent feelings

World music, or ethnic music, is one of the few kinds i have the sympathetic feeling with, which take me out of realitiy.
Exotic, excerpted from The Art of Travel, is another thing appealing to me recently.

Exotic suggests an idea of feeling foreign, strange, maybe with some culture shock coming along.
I DID have some culture shock experiences during the first week after arrival.
Poorly, it slipped away in about 3 weeks’ time.

WOO. Shame on you! Staying oversea for almost a year, you still don’t get to feel “world” and “exotic” ?
Well, god knows where I am.

Maybe it’s just a subconscious need that urge me to take some time and thing it over. I am living way too good than I expected. Nothing wrong. No coincidence, no accident, nothing special happened at all, just too fine to be true.

I appreciate these days being so conscious in mind.
Remaining unconsistent in the definition of life, people choose their own ways of living. This is what I believe.

to set things right

In these days, i realized that things have gone off the track.

This is not the way i expected to live, nor does it bring joy to me ever.

I think it over again: Why came here? for what did I leave my home and parents behind and came to this damned far country?

The answer is obvious, but I just dared not work it out.

well, i know it’s time for me to move forward, even though little progress could be made.

For my goal, my life, my dream, my expectation and that of my parents, my future, my hope, I must make some changes.

Bless you all my friends, especially those who struggle for dreams and an ideal world.

An announcement

I will major in Linguistics,

only if I find it interesting in the spring quarter.

Please don’t ask me what i gonna do after graduated, coz i have no idea either.

I choose it because it feels like my future way in college,

and I don’t have a better choice at this moment.

This has been verified duing these days, when i was buying some electonic stuff online.

In Amazon.com, I found out that my Z-4 speakers(40 Watt) only costs $82, while I paid $108 for them 2 months ago at BestBuy. With the same amount of money, I could have bought a much better speaker(about 200 Watt), which cost about $120 sth but it’s 5 times more powerful than the one i’m using.

In addition, I learned sth from buying a musical keyboard also. About 2 weeks ago, I have ordered a KORG PS-500 digital piano, yet it was never shipped because of some bank related problems. Later on, when I tried to find out more information about it online, more professional digital piano were avilable with the same price. They were much better than the original one, with some more manual effects and variable functions. I’m now trying to make up my mind and go get one of them. Yet, if i’ve got the original one already, I would be definitely disappointed.

These are the lessons I’ve learned, and meantime, I had lots of fun finding out what I really need online. It’s really Great!!
